Hot off the Press—Another study proving natural immunity developed from having COVID-19 is long lasting.
You might want the “Cliff Notes” version of this study to understand what you’re reading. Never-the-less, the conclusion is clear. The human body’s immune system is amazing, and produces durable immunity on multiple levels, providing at least 11 months of immunity.
You’ve heard about protective antibodies (anti-S IgG). What about the “isotype-switched MBC” as a second line of defense? Well, apparently our bodies respond to the COVID-19 virus with both defenses. Great news for people who have recovered from COVID-19! Your immunity should still be strong at seven months, but there’s more.
“Overall, our data provide strong evidence that SARS-CoV-2 infection in humans robustly establishes the two arms of humoral immune memory: long-lived BMPC and MBCs.” https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-021-03647-4
Even in patients with mild infections, the serum anti-SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) antibodies are detectable at least 11 months post infection. And, BMPCs from bone marrow of COVID-19 recovered individuals are still present eight months post infection. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-021-03647-4 That’s two ways your body protects you from future infections.

I for one can’t wait for a few months to pass so the tests can be run again to determine even longer immunity. What a wonderful holiday gift that will be.
In the meantime, enjoy your immunity!
